Virtual Tax Practice Readiness Checklist
Remote delivery changes how taxpayer information enters, moves through, and leaves a practice. Use this checklist to find gaps before sending a client an upload link.
Inside the workbook
A short tool for one decision.
- Client identity and secure intake checks.
- Access, device, password, multifactor authentication, backup, and retention prompts.
- Electronic signature, payment, communication, and return-delivery checks.
- Vendor diligence and access-removal records.
- Written information security plan and incident-response evidence fields.
How to use it
Name the system, owner, source, and evidence for every checked item. Test the full client path with non-sensitive sample data. A tool's security page does not prove that the practice configured or uses the tool safely.
A virtual workflow must be adapted to the practice, its data, vendors, services, and jurisdiction. A qualified security or legal reviewer may be needed. A template by itself is not a completed written information security program.
